We were driving home the other night and I saw a massive toad hopping across the road. I stopped the car and got out and caught the toad so that my children could see it. This old guy barely fit in my hand. Everyone was on board until I stuck it in the car . I placed him beside the road and continued driving home.

I did the same for a box turtle and all that fucker did was hiss at me.

The toad tried to pee on me but I was wise to this trick. Then he just looked dejected.

We have some snapping turtles that like to nest down the road a bit. We'll take a peak at them but we stay far enough away.

They ever try to cross the road? 'Cause I've seen them doing that a number of times. I once stopped for one, because it was almost done crossing.

I've never seen them do it. They come up out of the water into the sand, lay their eggs and then head back into the water.

On one occasion, we had one just idly walking across our yard after a rain. Not sure where he was going or where he was coming from - he was a fairly little one, by which I mean about a foot long.

Yeah, they do what they want.
We saw a monstrous one by the railroad tracks a couple years ago. Its shell was easily 4 feet long. Some guy was out there with it with his kids. He told me I should come check it out with my son. Yeah, no thanks. I'll stay in my car.
